Head to the Twentymile Ranger District and indulge in one of the best kept secrets in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Home to a diverse variety animal and plant life, there are trails ranging in length from .5 - 20 miles in length.

The Appalachian Trail

Begin your hike with a stunning view of Stecoah Gap. On a clear day, enjoy the site of Fontana Lake from a bird's eye view. Hike along the ridge for as long as you would like and consider an evening view of the moonrise at the end of the day. It's an incredible treat!

Ever wonder what it's like to hike above the clouds? It's time to venture over to the Cherohala Skyway. Explore Hooper Bald, Huckleberry Knob, and other stops along the way as you take in the sites and vistas you've been dreaming of. (Also a great option for auto touring if you don't wish to hike)

Some would argue that they're the best in the world but we'll let you decide. Explore the breathtaking views of the Cherohala Skyway, go for the adrenaline rush of the Tail of the Dragon, or take a journey back in time as you make a loop of the Smoky Mountains along old settler roads and park service highways. Time to go for a ride!
